Charles S. Zwerling, MD
Founder and Past President
Dr. Charles “Chip” Zwerling is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, author of three textbooks on Micropigmentation, and visionary in the field of micropigmentation. He is a pioneer in eyeliner tattooing. Dr. Zwerling created of the American Academy of Micropigmentation in 1992.
Linda Dixon, MD
Past President, 1998 - 2017
Dr. Dixon is both a Dental Hygienist and a physician specializing in Anesthesiology. She attended the Univeristy of Hawaii School of Medicine in 1969 and graduated from Loma Linda university School of Medicine in 1972. She is a pioneer in permanent makeup beginning in 1979 when she requested to have her eyeliner tattooed at Skin Deep in Lahaina. They had never heard of such a thing but she promised to sit still while they tried to put a line around her eyelids without any pain control. That experience, both painful and minimally successful, started Dr. Dixon on the path to create pain control in permanent makeup in the mid-nineties. She bought her first tattoo machines from two brothers in New York in 1991 and has been practicing permanent makeup since 1995. In addition to her own clients, she has helped educate other permanent makeup professionals throughout the world. She discovered and developed the Dixon Technique which revolutionized the entire profession because it produces rich lip color, eyebrow hair-like strokes and smoky, smudgy eyeliner in less time with better color results. Dr. Dixon was Board Certified in 1996 by the Academy of Micropigmentation and also held the title of President.
